Superintendent Screening Committee Starts Work

The Ashland Independent School District’s superintendent screening committee received 17 applications for the position of superintendent. There are 17 applicants all from the Commonwealth of Kentucky with 2 applicants having superintendent experience. The screening committee will now begin the process of screening all applications following the guidelines established in KRS 160.352 and Board Policy 02.1. Per the timeline established by the Board of Education, the screening committee will make its recommendation to the board by May 5, 2016. At this point following the guidelines in Board Policy, members of the screening committee will keep all applicant information in strict confidence.

 


Ashland Board Takes Next Step to Appoint New Superintendent

(Ashland, Kentucky) - The Ashland Independent school board continues to make progress toward its goal of appointing a new superintendent for the Ashland Independent Schools. The board met Monday night to establish key position criteria to be used by the screening committee and the board, as required by board policy 02.1.  By the end of the meeting, eight key position criteria were established.

Parent Member Election to Screening Committee

The time commitment of committee members includes a minimum of two evening meetings, as well as time to check candidate references

Kindergarten Registration

Registration for Head Start, Preschool and Primary School (formerly kindergarten and first grade students) will be held in the Ashland Independent School District during the week of March 28- April 1, 2016.  Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.   Evening hours are available on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Board Takes First Step to Appoint New Superintendent

FRYSCKy Public Policy Survey

Our Family Resource Youth Service Center is in need of your input.  In the Governor’s proposed budget, many programs, including FRYSCs, are taking a 4.5% decrease this fiscal year and a 9% budget cut for the following two years.

Walk to School Day 2015

On Wednesday, October 7, 2015 Crabbe Elementary Schools will be participating in International Walk to School Day. Drop-off locations at the baseball field on the end of the park nearest KDMC!

Free Lunch for all PreK-12 Students

Ashland Independent has amended its policy for serving meals to students under the National Breakfast and Lunch Program for the 2015-2016 school year. In accordance with the Community Eligibility Program, all students in the district will be served Breakfast and Lunch at no charge at the following sites: Ashland/Blazer High School, Ashland Middle School, Crabbe Elementary, Hager Elementary, Oakview Elementary, Poage Elementary, Charles Russell Elementary and Head Start Program.
