Introduction
The Spanish program covers one year of high school Spanish over two years. The curriculum is set up to accommodate the middle school learner with many opportunities during the lesson to use their speaking skills in the target language. To reinforce vocabulary and grammar, students sing songs, have assignments with videos, break into small groups to write skits and then perform them for the class.
Previous experience with Spanish or any other foreign language is not necessary.
Upon completion of Spanish 7 and Spanish 8, the student will be eligible to skip past the high school's Spanish I and enter Spanish II as a freshman.
An added benefit to the completion of Ashland Middle School's Spanish program, is it fulfills one year of the two year requirement Kentucky colleges and universities now require for admission.
